How to Auto-Forward Bank Statements to StatementOrganizer in Gmail (Web)

StatementOrganizer Team · July 26, 2026

Avoid the manual uploads — now you can forward email statements from your bank to StatementOrganizer.com automatically! Gmail needs one small verification step first, then a filter does the rest. It takes under 5 minutes.

Before you start

The email address where you can forward your statements to is:

upload@statementorganizer.com

Everything you forward there gets processed into your account automatically.

One important tip: add your email address in your settings

A forwarded email arrives from your Gmail address, so StatementOrganizer needs to recognise it:

  1. Log in to StatementOrganizer.com.
  2. Go to your user settings.
  3. Find alternative email addresses (approved or additional emails).
  4. Add each address you'll forward from, and save.

This is the most common reason a forwarded statement doesn't appear.

Step 1: Add and verify the forwarding address (Gmail requires this)

Gmail won't let you forward to an address until it's verified. This is a one-time step.

  1. In Gmail, click the Settings gear (top right), then See all settings.
  2. Open the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
  3. Click Add a forwarding address.
  4. Enter upload@statementorganizer.com and confirm.

Gmail sends a verification message to that address. Because it goes to StatementOrganizer's system rather than a normal inbox, check your StatementOrganizer account or contact support to retrieve the confirmation code or link, and complete verification.

(If you set up a general "Forward a copy of incoming mail" option here, Gmail forwards everything — leave that off. We only want specific statements, which the filter below handles.)

Step 2: Create a filter for your statements

  1. In the Gmail search bar, click the Show search options icon (the sliders / filter icon on the right).
  2. Fill in:
    • From — the address your bank sends statements from.
    • Subject — a word your bank uses, usually statement.
    • Tick Has attachment.
  3. Click Create filter.
  4. In the list of actions, tick Forward it to and choose upload@statementorganizer.com from the dropdown.
  5. Click Create filter again to save.

That's it — Gmail now forwards only your bank's statement emails that carry an attachment.

Optional: sort your statement into a category as you send it

When you forward a statement by hand, put a category name in the subject line to file it automatically.

Whatever you type as the subject is matched against your set-up categories; an exact match files it there.

  1. Open the statement and click the Forward arrow.
  2. In To, type upload@statementorganizer.com.
  3. Clear the subject and type the category name exactly as it appears in your settings — e.g. Business Current.
  4. Keep the attachment, then Send.

This works on manual forwards only — the filter forwards emails with their original subject, so it can't apply a category for you.

A quick check

Forward a past statement by hand to upload@statementorganizer.com and confirm it appears in your account. If it doesn't, check the sender address is registered in your settings, and that your bank's subject line contains the word you filtered on.

This guide reflects Gmail on the web at the time of writing; Google updates the interface periodically. Gmail requires the forwarding address to be verified before a filter can use it. Google Workspace (work or school) accounts may have forwarding disabled by an administrator.
