How to Set Up Your Own AI API Key

Prefer to use your own AI provider account instead of StatementOrganizer's built-in credits? You can bring your own API key, and it's easy to set up.

How to add your own AI API key:

1. Go to Settings from the menu at statementorganizer.com, then open the AI tab.
2. Switch your AI preference to bring-your-own mode.
3. Paste in your API key from your preferred provider.
4. Save it — your key is encrypted and stored securely, and future analysis will run through your own account instead of using StatementOrganizer credits.

Using your own key means system credits aren't consumed for chats, extractions, or reports — instead, usage is billed directly by your provider under your own agreement with them. It's a great option if you already have a provider account you'd like to make full use of.

A quick privacy note: when you bring your own key, your statement data is sent to that provider under your agreement with them, rather than StatementOrganizer's own zero-retention arrangements with its built-in providers — so it's worth choosing a provider you trust.

You can switch back to StatementOrganizer's system models at any time, and your saved key stays securely stored for whenever you want to use it again.
